ISO 9001

Since 2017, we have maintained ISO9001 certification, reflecting our ongoing efforts to improve our business through continuous improvement initiatives. Achieving this globally recognized quality management standard is a significant accomplishment for our company, and we take great pride in it. This certification demonstrates our commitment to quality, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency.

Quality Checking Procedures

To ensure that our batteries meet our high standards, we have put in place strict quality control procedures. Our LiPo batteries are carefully selected based on their internal resistance, voltage, and weight to create expertly matched packs that deliver optimal performance and a long lifespan. All packs undergo rigorous checks in terms of voltage, capacity, and safety before dispatch to ensure top-level quality and performance. Our trained operatives follow stringent best practices and procedures in carrying out these checks.

Advanced Assembly

We've invested in our in-house facilities to bring manufacturing back to the UK. Our state-of-the-art machinery includes ultrasonic and capacitor discharge welding machines, dual pulse tagging machines, and advanced battery checkers that can determine the capacity, voltage, and internal resistance of each cell in a pack accurately. We strive to continuously enhance our UK-based facilities to offer improved service to our customers.

Commitment to Quality

With years of experience and an innovative approach, we strive to efficiently meet the needs of our customers. Our commitment to quality is evident in all aspects of our operations, from product development and testing to customer service and support.

Roger founded the company with the objective of pursuing his passion for radio-controlled (RC) models. His primary focus was on manufacturing NiCd batteries for RC cars, which he started producing independantly in his local facility.

Business was established by Roger Wildings

1975

After achieving significant success in the hobby and model industry, Roger made the decision to grow his business. He relocated to a larger facility in Leicester to accommodate more advanced equipment.

Company relocated to Leicester

Following a prosperous career, Roger retired and passed on his company to like-minded RC enthusiast, John. Drawing upon his technical proficiency, John recognized opportunities for growth and rebranded the company as Overlander

. He introduced innovative battery technologies to the product range, including a selection of NiMH packs.

1998

As the NiMH product line gained popularity within the RC industry, John made the decision to relocate the company to Forton. Over the course of several years, John invested in a new facility that could accommodate a larger workforce and facilitate the further expansion of Overlander's product range.

2001 - 2005

New facility was established in Forton

Following major advancements in battery technology, Overlander expanded its product line to include a range of LiPo batteries. The company forged exclusivity agreements with respected manufacturers, which continue to be in effect today. This marked a significant step forward for the company, as it added hundreds of new products to its portfolio and enabled it to cater to an even broader range of industries.

2005

By introducing advanced machinery, such as computerised battery testing and capacitor discharge welding machines, to its UK facilities, Overlander was able to expand its services and cater to a wide range of sectors, including NHS trusts, aerospace, motorsport, and university research departments.

2012

Expanded workshop with more advanced machinery

Following John's retirement, his son Jason took over the company with a strong commitment to quality and a determination to propel the business forward. Jason quickly implemented a range of quality management systems aimed at achieving continuous improvement and surpassing customer and regulatory expectations. As a result, the company was awarded its first ISO9001 certificate.

Jason Kliszat became MD and attained ISO9001 accreditation

2013

In an effort to reduce the environmental impact of its products and promote responsible battery disposal practices, Overlander joined the BatteryBack and WeeeCare battery recycling schemes.

2014

Joined BatteryBack and WeeeCare battery recycling schemes

Overlander added ultrasonic welding machinery to its UK facilities, which enables the production of consistent and high-quality welds. Additionally, ultrasonic welding is a clean and environmentally friendly process, as it does not require any additional materials such as adhesives or solvents.

2016

Overlander took advantage of the ongoing progress in battery technology and expanded its range of products by introducing Li-ion and LiFePO4 batteries. This enabled the company to produce lithium packs in a wide range of sizes and shapes, making them suitable for diverse applications. Overlander's vision is to bring manufacturing back to the UK and cater to a broader range of industries, positioning itself as a comprehensive solution for all battery needs.

BatteryBack

We are members of the BatteryBack compliance recycling scheme, which ensures that waste batteries are collected, treated and recycled in an environmentally sound manner. This helps to protect the environment and ensures that valuable resources are recovered from used batteries, which can be used to make new batteries or other products.

WeeeCare

We are members of WeeeCare compliance scheme to ensure that we comply with the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) regulations. This means that we take responsibility for the environmental impact of our products at the end of their useful life, by arranging for their disposal or recycling in a responsible manner.

Battery Recycling Initiatives

Overlander is committed to environmental protection and complying with relevant legislation. Our core values prioritise building trust with customers and achieving successful business outcomes, while constantly improving environmental performance, minimising resource usage, and preventing pollution.

Company Policies
